Specialist components distributor Golden Systems Middle East has revealed that it plans to grow its software portfolio beyond the current antivirus solutions it’s offering its channel partners in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The move to extend its software portfolio past the security software products it has in its stable follows the distributor’s recent launch of its Enterprise Solutions division.
While the Dubai-based distributor does represent several antivirus software brands, the move to increase its software array also paves the way for Golden Systems to transition from pure hardware distribution model to a more solutions focused value-add business model.
Ehsan Hashemi, COO at Golden Systems Middle East says the companyhas several opportunities and partnerships that are expected to be announced this year that deal specifically with software solutions. Hashemiadds that for now, Golden Systems distributes software brand that include: GData Software, BitDefender and Kaspersky. He says that the company offers GData security products for both the channel and enterprise segments.
Hashemi points out that aside from the software push, Golden Systems views the retail sector as a vital sector for its business. “We distribute components from multinational vendors such as Logitech, Leadtek, Gigabyte Technology, Zotac, Kingmax, Nvidia and AMD to name a few,” he says.
He explains that a strong retail network is important to effectively sell these products and the company often finds that having retail presence acts as a catalyst for boosting products sales to the traditional dealer channel.
As a result, says Hashemi the KSA, Egypt and the Levant markets are undoubtedly important markets for Golden Systems’ software and retail focus in the MENA region this year. “We have always felt that these markets are strategically key markets in the region. The population and demographic breakdown of these markets are commensurate with the target demographic for our industry,” he enthuses.
Hashemi adds that Golden Systems has established a dedicated marketing and sales team that is working in these markets. “This has allowed our staff to address various needs in the channel. Maintaining this presence and foothold has allowed us to face challenges and avail opportunities to partners in these markets,” he says.
Hashemi is upbeat that Golden Systems will this year grow its business in all segments it addresses. “We’re actually projecting growth in all our segments. However, we expect to see major growth coming from the newly instituted Enterprise Solutions division. We have discovered that in times of recession and economic difficulty, the enterprise segment focuses on IT infrastructure development,” he says.Hashemi says the infrastructure spending by (business and government) is actually a key factor in stabilising the economy in the MENA region. “A lot of growth that has happened during these tough times has been as a result of IT expenditure in the segment.
Hashemi says Golden Systems will continue to work towards strengthening its channel in all the countries it addresses. “We will also increase our focus in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, CIS, Levant and North African countries,” he says.
