“G Data puts a strong emphasis on the technology we offer our customers.,” says James Coombes, Head of UK Sales at G Data. “Avoiding false positives and instability and reducing the impact of G Data on the system are key focal points. We see that consumers are increasingly caring about these facets, especially now that the detection rates of different brands are so close to each other, just below 100%. The fact that we can offer these great features, next to our usual high detection of known and unknown malware, is proven by these prestigious awards.”
The influential nature of these awards is emphasised by Eddy Willems, Security Evangelist at G Data.Eddy is also involved with AMTSO (Anti-Malware Testing Standard Organization), an institute that investigates if these types of tests are unbiased and executed according to the right methodology. “There are hundreds of organisations worldwide that test security products. Most of these organisations are commercial businesses that test in assignment of suppliers. Often, these testers know exactly how to design the test to make the client’s product appear as the winner. In Europe there is only a handful of testing institutes that are truly independent. Both VirusBulletin and AV Comparatives belong to this elite group. That means that awards from these labs are very valuable.”
