GIGABYTE Aivia K8100 - Bjorn3D.com

GIGABYTE's new foray into the specialty keyboard market resulted in the Aivia K8100 keyboard (Aivia is an acronym for Advanced, Intuitive, and Versatile Interface Archetype). The board has three different levels of elastic force keys, a digital touch and slide volume control, and 20 non-ghosting keystroke capability thanks to Gigabyte's new Ghost Macro Engine. The presentation is akin to showing off an exotic sports car, with the keyboards available in brilliant yellow, victory red, and a deep matte black. A unique feature is the ability to swap out the WASD keys with rubber coated replacements for additional tactile feel during gaming.

Kaspersky AntiVirus 2011 Review & Download

Review of Kaspersky AntiVirus 2011:

KasperskyGoodWhen people talk about Antivirus applications, "Kaspersky" isn't usually one of the first names to roll off of their tongues. But this stalwart, known colloquially as KAV, has been drawing accolades since 2007 for its fast scan times, and high virus detection rates. Unfortunately, our benchmarks found that KAV 2011 lags behind other major antivirus programs in key performance metrics.

G Data wins two prestigious awards in one week - G Data Software AG

G Data wins two prestigious awards in one week - G Data Software AG

This week, G Data has been awarded not one, but two prestigious awards from separate independent research labs. G Data’s AntiVirus 2011 first won a VB100 Award from VirusBulletin, thanks to high detection rates and a lower than average CPU usage. Two days later the same product received the Advanced+ awards from AV Comparatives. G Data’s AntiVirus detected the most unknown malware out of all the products and managed to keep the false alarms to a minimum. With that, G Data was named the overall winner of the test.

“G Data puts a strong emphasis on the technology we offer our customers.,” says James Coombes, Head of UK Sales at G Data. “Avoiding false positives and instability and reducing the impact of G Data on the system are key focal points. We see that consumers are increasingly caring about these facets, especially now that the detection rates of different brands are so close to each other, just below 100%. The fact that we can offer these great features, next to our usual high detection of known and unknown malware, is proven by these prestigious awards.”

The influential nature of these awards is emphasised by Eddy Willems, Security Evangelist at G Data.Eddy is also involved with AMTSO (Anti-Malware Testing Standard Organization), an institute that investigates if these types of tests are unbiased and executed according to the right methodology. “There are hundreds of organisations worldwide that test security products. Most of these organisations are commercial businesses that test in assignment of suppliers. Often, these testers know exactly how to design the test to make the client’s product appear as the winner. In Europe there is only a handful of testing institutes that are truly independent. Both VirusBulletin and AV Comparatives belong to this elite group. That means that awards from these labs are very valuable.”

P67A-UD7 Most In-Depth Preview/Review!! - i4memory.com - different look at memory

P67A-UD7 Most In-Depth Preview/Review:

With Intel’s release of Sandy Bridge processors around the corner we have a lot of new technology to look forward to; the P67 Cougar Point LGA1155 boards will be one of the top choices for Overclockers, Gamers, and System Builders alike. Sandy Bridge will fill in as the LGA 1156 replacement, and following in the footsteps of its predecessor with a Platform Controller Hub (PCH) instead of an IOH and ICH (Northbridge and Southbridge). The processor itself will carry an Internal Memory Controller (IMC) (the board lists 1066MB/s-2133MB/s), a brand new Internal Graphics Processor (IGP), 8 5GT/s(16 2.5GT/s) PCI-E lanes, and a wide variety of new features. Some to name are a Power Control Unit (PCU) inside the processor, an internal clock generator, and oups cache. All the new features should really raise the bar as far as processor engineering goes. Overclocking is supposed to change because the system bus will be tied to a variety of devices, the base clock that we change will probably have to stay close to stock, while the multipliers are raised. Turbo Mode 2.0 is going to be our friend instead of foe, and power delivery will become ever more important. SLI will require an add-on chip, because natively only one graphics card can be used with 16x lanes. GIGABYTE has a solution for everything, and today I will take a firsthand look at their flagship GA-P67A-UD7 rev 1.0.
Some highlights include the VRM/PMW design (power delivery), and I go very in depth about the advantages and disadvantages of Analogue VS Digital VRM design. BIOS section including brand new BIOS settings including wattage and amperage to the implementation of EFI BIOS in the future. The USB 3.0 sub-system on this board is phenomenal tree type system along with SATA6G connectivity this board can power all of your devices to their fullest extent, and when you have all the SATA and USB ports filled you can enable USB 3.0 Turbo Mode to add speed and bandwidth. I take apart of the cooling on this board and put it to the test to find out how well it transfers and dissipates heat in the motherboard cooling section. I then take a look at both PCI-E busses in the NF200 and PCH P67 section, and analyze the benefits. Follow along with me as we take a look into the near future!
The way I do reviews is in depth and on point. Right now I cannot post any benchmarks, Intel markings, or list any spec. What I can do is show you the board, go over its feature set, and most importantly explain in depth about how everything works. If you have read any of my previous reviews you know that I go in depth on every IC I can find and then I explain their uses, because that is what makes the board. I like to get up close with my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro Lens, so the pictures are just as in depth as my analysis.
Just sit back relax and enjoy the ride! .....

GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 Motherboard Review - The GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 Mainboard - Legit Reviews

The GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 Mainboard

GIGABYTE has a long standing reputation in the enthusiast community as a top tier manufacturer. While GIGABYTE is among the top enthusiast motherboards, not all of their boards are aimed at the folk's that are budget-less. Today we are fortunate enough to have one of GIGABYTE's budget minded socket 1366 motherboards in hand to put through the paces. The GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 is a low cost, budget friendly motherboard based on the Intel X58 chipset. At the time of writing the GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 is the fourth least expensive socket 1366 motherboard at Newegg.com coming in at only $179.99.

While the GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 is aimed at the budget minded consumer. There isn't many features that GIGABYTE decided to leave off. Those that they did leave off, are perhaps past their prime or haven't yet become a main stream staple in the computer industry. That's not to say the the GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 is lacking in features, because that is far from accurate. Features such as the GIGABYTE ON/OFF Charge that allow you to charge mobile devices even while the computer is shutdown, is just one of the many features that I like about the GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3. Other features like Cloud OC, Hotkey OC, and software like Easy Tune 6 are just a few of the features that the GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 can lay claim to.

Zotac GTX 570 Review | t-break: Tech @ Its Fastest

The little brother’s got fangs just as sharp as the GTX 580.

With the launch of their flagship model, it’s now time for Nvidia to take a step back and look at the next market segment. The GTX 570 launches today just in time for the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm as well as 3DMark 11. While I didn’t run any benchmarks on Cataclysm, I did manage to squeeze in the performance numbers for 3DMark 11, but more on that later.

First off, let’s take a closer look at the Zotac GTX 570. For all intents and purposes, the GF110 based GTX 570 is the same as the GTX 580 except with one streaming processor disabled, so it’s no surprise that the two look exactly the same. The heatsink design and application is the same as the GTX 580 as well, with idle temperatures at 49°C while full load never went ahead of 85°C, even while overclocked.
Zotac packages the GTX 570 with one copy of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, a Drivers & Utilities disc, 2x power cables, a mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter and a VGA to DVI adapter. Onboard the GTX 570 has 2x DVI and 1x HDMI port. And there’s a pair of 6+6 pin PCIe connectors at the back which require a minimum of 550W PSU to power the card.

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9

The X58A-UD9 is packed with Intel's X58 chipset, includes 6Gbps Serial ATA support and requires an XL-ATX compatible chassis

The GA-X58A-UD9 is Gigabyte's flagship X58 board and it sports a price tag of US $649. For that mighty price you get a LGA 1366 board that can run four GPUs simultaneously and packs 6Gb/sec Serial ATA support.

The board is able to run a four-way multi-GPU setup thanks to no less than seven PCI-E x16 expansion slots, four of which can run in x16 mode. These four slots should be used when building a multi-GPU system as they will provide maximum bandwidth for the bandwidth-hungry graphics cards. The remaining three PCI-E x16 slots run at x8 mode and so can be populated by other expansion cards.

Despite the board's feature-rich nature it still sports a clean, useable layout thanks to its XL-ATX form factor. You'll need a fairly large case to house the motherboard however, as it measures 345 x 262mm. The UD9's BIOS offers plenty of overclocking options, so you will be able to push your components to their very limits.

The GA-X58A-UD9 outperformed every other X58 board we've tested in our benchmarks by small margins. We were able to build a quad-GTX 470 setup but here performance didn't quite blow us away. This isn't the Gigabyte's fault however as multi-GPU technology, has always returned iffy graphics performance.

GIGABYTE Tech Daily: TweakTown Gets a First Look at the GIGABYTE P67A-UD7 Motherboard

The folks over at TweakTown recently got their hands on GIGABYTE’s flagship motherboard for the Intel 6 series platform and noticed a few differences from GIGABYTE motherboards in the past. Here’s what Sean had to say:

The P67A-UD7 from GIGABYTE has raised many questions. The product is clearly an almost complete redesign from their typical high-end layout. Gone are things like the Silent Pipe II cooling system and the 12 phase power that we had seen before. Now we are seeing a much more “brute” force attack on performance and also in design.

The overall effect of the board is of something new from GB. The black PCB, slots and even the new gold and black cooling suggests performance and power.

Man proposes to girlfriend via an iPhone app | t-break: Tech @ Its Fastest

Want to propose to your girlfriend? Well, there’s an app for that!
Sahba Idelkhani wanted to utter the four word phrase to his longtime girlfriend, but instead of hiding the ring in a cake, or leave it swimming in her glass of champaign, he set out to design an iPhone app to do the deed. Idelkhani gave a Texas-based game developer AUD $1500 to write the app, which took his girlfriend Melody on a 200km trip down memory lane.

Lithium-Ion batteries receive 10x battery life boost - SlashGear

Lithium-Ion batteries receive 10x battery life boost - SlashGear

I don’t know much of anything about the science behind batteries, but I do know that a battery life boost of 10x is something I am very interested in. Apparently the gist of what’s needed to get that sizeable of a boost is to change the platform or anode from the carbon that is currently used to silicon, which is already in use in tons of other electronics in other capacities.

The reason being is that the silicon is far less likely to fracture under the load of the ions as the silicon can shrink and expand. Yi Cui has filed a patent and is hopeful that companies will quickly adopt this technology.

So basically, your cheap generic laptop that maybe gets 2 hours of battery life would be hitting 20 hours, a feat laptops cost three grand and up can’t even achieve while maintaining a reasonable size and weight. Just imagine how much longer you could work on the go or how much smaller some devices could get if their batteries could shrink but maintain the same if not longer battery life, I can’t wait.

GIGABYTE Tech Daily: GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD7 Preview on Bjorn3d

The GIGABYTE P67A-UD7 motherboard looks like an excellent board for hard core gamers and overclockers. The overall motherboard has a very clean and high-quality design which represents GIGABYTE’s Ultra Durable 3 motherboards really well. We can physically feel the sturdiness of the board, making it even more suitable for heavy heatsinks and other coolers.

Gigabyte Aivia K8100 keyboard review | t-break: Tech @ Its Fastest

Gigabyte Aivia K8100 keyboard review | t-break: Tech @ Its Fastest:

"The Aivia gaming keyboard marks Gigabyte’s first foray into this competitive market of high-end PC peripherals; a segment usually dominated by Razer and Logitech. That said, there’s always room for more, and competition will always work in the favor of the consumers at the end of the day.

Opening up the rather large box, I find the Aivia keyboard nestled within a lot of plastic, cardboard and foam protection. The extras include a silicone cover, an additional set of rubberized WASD keys along with a puller and a Drivers CD which contains the Ghost Macro Engine."

GIGABYTE 880GMA-UD2H Review | Motherboards.org

GIGABYTE 880GMA-UD2H Review | Motherboards.org:

"It has been an interesting 2010 so far in the world of computers. The delayed introduction of Fermi and the resulting domination of ATI video cards has continued, and Fermi, while faster than the HD 5870 in many respects, simply didn’t have the same power draw and cost metric. On the CPU side of things, Intel has released Core i5 and i3 CPUs with integrated graphics on the CPU itself. AMD has launched low cost 6-core CPUs and chipsets to support the new CPUs in the form of the 8 series chipsets and will likely launch their Fusion APU with integrated graphics on the CPU die in 2011."

In the meantime, AMD has four distinct chipsets in their 8 Series of motherboards, including the 890FX for the high-end, the 890GX for the high end integrated solution, the 880G for the mainstream integrated solution and the 870 chipset for the mainstream non-integrated solution. The high/lo mix of chipsets for motherboards allows manufacturers flexibility when building systems. GIGABYTE is a Tier-1 motherboard manufacturer building motherboards, cases, video cards and other computer related equipment. Today, I’m reviewing the GIGABYTE 880GMA-UD2H motherboard based upon the 880G chipset.
